This short film explores the clash between sexuality, gender and Christianity in Baguio, the Philippines. In the film we meet members of the Metropolitan Community Church of Metro Baguio; a small Christian church that accepts homosexuality. We also hear the attitude towards homosexuality from the Catholic Church and Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ).
The film is based on a four month fieldwork in spring 2014. It is part of a larger project that also includes a written assignment, and constitutes Rikke Schrader's master thesis in anthropology.
Sinful Sexualities was accepted at an art exhibition in Russia. But after much consideration the curators didn't dare to show the film due to Russia's law against "homosexual propaganda". The film was shown at a private event instead.
